    What is RtI?

Response to Intervention is a multi-tiered approach that leads to the early identification and support of students with different learning needs. All students are screened and small group or individualized instruction is provided for students who may need extra support.
All children receive instruction in a core curriculum in their classroom, and progress is collected at three benchmark periods during the year (fall, winter and spring). Students who may not be responding adequately to the core curriculum will be provided supplemental instruction or intervention, and their progress will be monitored more frequently. Some of this supplemental instruction may be within the classroom, or it may be in an alternate setting in small groups or 1 on 1. RtI is a process used to help children succeed in the classroom.
